Description

This is a 2 days trek starting from Sangchoekor Buddhist collage in Paro and ends at the base of Taktsang Monastery, Paro.

Itinerary

Arrive at Paro

Your escort from Bhutan Corinthian will receive you at the airport and drive you to the hotel.

After lunch, visit

• Ta Dzong (National Museum).
• Paro Rimpung Dzong
• Typical Bhutanese Farm house to see the daily life of Bhutanese.

Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Paro - Excursion to Taktsang Monastery

After breakfast,

• Hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest)
• Kichu Lhakhang
Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Trek to Bumdra Monastery

Hike from Sang Choekor Buddhist College in the Paro valley (2,800 m) to Yak pasture where we camp below Bumdra Monastery (3,800 m):

After lunch, we can visit the monastery or climb a peak nearby at around 4000 meter. We return to the camp. Dinner and overnight in camp.

Duration: 3–4 hours to camp, optional 2–3 hours return trek to peak.

Difficulty: Moderate

Return hike from Bumdra Monastery camp via Zangto Pelri Monastery – Thimphu

After breakfast, we return from Bumdra to Paro via Zanto Pelri Monastery. We descend down and reach the base of the hill. We then drive to Thimphu. Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Duration: 5 – 7 hours.

Difficulty: Moderate.

Thimphu Sightseeing

Your day begins with a hike to Cheri Monastery – 1 hour walk up the gentle hill.
After lunch, visit

• National Memorial Chorten (1974)
• Painting School where traditional art is still kept alive through instructions in the art of painting Thangkas (sacred Buddhist religious scrolls).
• Tashichho Dzong, seat of the national government and the Central Monastic Body, including the summer residence of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot of Bhutan).
Overnight in Hotel.

Thimphu - Punakha

After breakfast, drive to Punakha via Dochula pass. If the weather is clear, we stop for a while at Dochula pass to view Higher Himalayas.
• Chime Lhakhang, which was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley. He subdued the demons with his “Magical Thunder bolt”. The Temple is also known as “the Temple of Fertility”. Lunch at Punakha. It is an easy 20-30 min walk through the paddy field.
• Punakha Dzong built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and is situated between Pho Chu (Male river) and Mo Chu (Female river).
• The longest suspension bridge in the country near the Dzong.
Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Punakha – Thimphu

After breakfast, drive to Thimphu.
After lunch, visit
• Bhutanese paper factory
• The tallest and largest Statue of sitting Buddha,
• Sangaygang to get the bird’s eye view of Thimphu city
• Takin preserve center on your return
• Dupthop nunnery before you return hotel.
Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Thimphu – Paro

Early morning, drive to the Airport and Farewell.
